Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, the United Nations to support Iraq during the legislative elections in January next, at a meeting of the new Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq Melkert Ed.
Maliki said in a statement received (and the Iraqi News Agency Information / conscious) a copy of which is: "the next election is a lot of important issues concerning the country and will complement the success of state-building."
He added: "We are working to maintain security and stability so that these elections will be the highest levels of success."
Maliki called the United Nations to provide cooperation and assistance in completing this task, noting that "as long as the United Nations, listened to the demands of the Iraqi government and the ongoing cooperation in our midst to get rid of all the problems and hardships faced by Iraq."
Maliki confirmed that Iraq will not allow the terrorists and those who are betting on the disruption of the security situation in Iraq after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the cities, adding that the ability of Iraqi forces will be to assume full responsibility and maintain security and stability.
For his part, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, said he saw significant progress in various fields, and the United Nations renewed its cooperation with the Iraqi government in the areas of elections, water, agriculture, construction, investment and other fields.
