Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki meets the new Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq

Received the Prime Minister, Mr. Nuri Kamel al-Maliki in his office Thursday evening the official Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mr. Ad Melkert.

He said: We have achieved a lot on the road to sovereignty and the fight against Al Qaeda and the militias, and we are moving towards greater successes in various fields.

"Mr. Prime Minister I have listened to the demands of the United Nations the government of Iraq, and continuing cooperation in our midst to get rid of all the problems and suffering that we face.

He said: The upcoming elections are a lot of important issues concerning the country, and success will complement the building, so we are working to maintain security and stability so that these elections will be the highest levels of success, calling on the United Nations to provide cooperation and assistance in accomplishing this task.

"Mr. Prime Minister: I will not allow the terrorists and those who are betting on an improper security situation in Iraq after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the cities, and we will demonstrate the ability of our security forces to assume full responsibility for maintaining security and stability.

He added: We have a desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with the United Nations in the areas of water and agriculture, as has happened in the area of trade.

For his part, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq: we see significant progress in various areas, and the United Nations renewed its cooperation with the Iraqi Government and support them in achieving all the ambitions and aspirations of the Iraqi people, and to provide assistance in the areas of elections, water, agriculture and Abannaalastosmar and other fields.

Dijo: «Hemos logrado mucho en el camino hacia la soberanía y la lucha contra Al Qaeda y las milicias, y estamos avanzando hacia mayores éxitos en diversos campos.

"Sr. Primer Ministro, he escuchado a las demandas de las Naciones Unidas al gobierno de Iraq, y que continúe la cooperación entre nosotros para deshacerse de todos los problemas y el sufrimiento al que nos enfrentamos.
