Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki meets with a delegation of U.S. Congress
Received the Prime Minister, Mr. Nuri Kamel al-Maliki in his office Thursday evening and the official delegation from the U.S. Congress headed by Senator John McCain.
He stressed during the meeting on the need to expand the horizons of cooperation between Iraq and the United States in the fields of economy, trade, scientific and cultural after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraqi cities.
"Mr. Prime Minister has shown our armed forces and our security ability to take responsibility and maintain security after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraqi cities, and these results developed and the successes achieved after great sacrifices made and paid for the blood of a dear.
He said our goal is to achieve the national interest, equality and justice among all components of the Iraqi people, and the adoption of the National Program is the only way for Iraqis to cross to safety.
He said today, after the achievement of security and stability has become the development of our economy and the implementation of construction projects, reconstruction and investment and the provision of services and ways to live off for the whole Iraqi people.
For his part, Senator John McCain said that the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraqi cities is to confirm the credibility of the implementation of the Convention is proof that the Iraqi forces are on the high degree of readiness and ability to assume responsibility.
McCain reiterated U.S. support for the Iraqi government in all efforts to maintain the security and stability of Iraq and the development of the Iraqi economy and its support in the process of construction, reconstruction and investment and providing support in the areas of industrial, commercial, scientific and cultural.
